When motorists in California apply for auto insurance, they are always offered an add-on policy to cover uninsured/underinsured motorists. This add-on policy covers you and any passengers in injured an accident as well as coverage for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Because of the high percentage of uninsured drivers in the state, many motorists opt into taking this additional insurance.
